Traditionally, a dental prosthesis must be made by an outside dental laboratory after images and impressions are collected of your mouth. This process can take up to 2-3 weeks, requiring you to wait and wear temporary crowns before your procedure can be completed. Using our CEREC machine, Dr. Willis can manufacture your custom crown in just a few minutes, and he can place it immediately.
The CEREC Crown Process
The CEREC process starts with cleaning and numbing your mouth. Next, any damaged enamel will be removed to prepare your tooth for the crown placement. Dr. Willis will take digital images of your mouth, and these scans will then be uploaded to our CEREC milling unit. The machine will mill a small block of porcelain into the desired shape. We’ll check the crown for proper fit and function, and once it is perfect, Dr. Willis will bond it into place permanently, completing the procedure.
